Delete your account

This removes your account and everything in it. It cannot be undone.

Cancel your subscription first

Apple bills your subscription, not us, so deleting your Rewind account does not stop the charges. Cancel it before you delete, in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions › Rewind. If you delete the account first you will have to cancel from Apple's settings anyway, and you will have lost the app that explains how.

How to delete it

In the app: open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account. It asks you twice, because there is no way back, and then removes everything below and signs you out. It is done within a minute.

If you can no longer sign in, email support@example.com from the email address on your account, with the subject Delete my Rewind account. We will confirm the request is yours, delete the account, and email you to confirm it is done — within 30 days and usually within a few working days. We will not ask you for any identifying information beyond what is needed to be sure the request came from the account holder, and we will never ask for your password.

If you signed in with Apple, Google or a phone number and no longer have access to that method, email us anyway and say so, and we will find another way to verify you.

What gets deleted

  • Your profile: email, phone number, username, display name and picture.
  • Every trip you own, and all the photos and videos in them.
  • Every photo and video you uploaded to other people's trips, including the copies in our storage.
  • Every activity you imported from Apple Health or Strava, including its route.
  • Your Strava connection and the access token we held for it.
  • Your friendships, any pending friend requests, who you follow and who you blocked.
  • Links you shared to your trips.
  • Your notification tokens and preferences.
  • Every film you made, rendered or cut on your phone, and any score composed for one.

What does not get deleted

  • Your camera roll. Rewind never modifies or deletes your original photos, and deleting your account does not touch them. Everything stays on your phone.
  • Other people's trips and their own media. If you were a collaborator, the trip belongs to whoever created it and continues to exist without you. Your uploads to it are removed; theirs are not.
  • Records of purchases. We must keep transaction records for tax purposes, typically for six or seven years. These are records that a payment happened — not your trips, photos or health data.
  • Your Apple subscription. Only you can cancel that, with Apple. See the box above.
  • Encrypted backups, briefly. Deleted data can persist in our providers' encrypted backups for up to 30 days after removal from live systems, after which those backups expire on their own.

If you want less than deletion

You may not need to delete everything. You can also:

  • Delete a single trip, or single photos, in the app.
  • Leave a trip someone else added you to, from its member list.
  • Disconnect Strava from your profile, which leaves your trips intact.
  • Revoke photo, location or Health access in iOS Settings at any time. Rewind keeps working with less.
  • Turn off individual notification categories in your profile.

Or ask us for an export of your data first — email the same address and we will send it before anything is removed.
