Terms of Use

Last updated 26 October 2026. This is the EULA for Rewind for iOS.

Before publishing: fill in LEGAL and SUPPORT_EMAIL in src/content/legal.ts — the trading name, country, governing law, currency, database region, and a support mailbox that is actually read — and run scripts/build-legal-pages.mjs again. This box disappears when they are filled.

Rewind is provided by [YOUR FULL NAME], an individual developer trading as Rewind, in [COUNTRY] ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Rewind you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The Privacy Policy, which says what we do with your data, is part of them.

1. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Rewind on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, reverse-engineer or modify the app, or attempt to extract its source code, except where law gives you that right regardless of what a contract says.

We own the app, its name and its design. Nothing here transfers any of that to you.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Rewind. Keep your sign-in method secure — anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

Give us accurate information, and do not impersonate anyone else. One account per person.

3. Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use Rewind, or at least 16 if you live in a country whose law sets that as the age of digital consent. If you are under 18, you may only use Rewind with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.

4. Your content

Your photos, videos and trips are yours. We claim no ownership of them.

To run the app we need your permission to do specific technical things with what you upload: store it, back it up, transmit it to the people you have let see it, resize and transcode it, analyse it to find the best moments and places, draw it on maps, and combine it into the films you ask us to make. You grant us a licence to do those things, limited to operating and improving Rewind for you, for as long as you keep the content in the app.

That licence ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not use your content to advertise, we do not show it to anyone you have not let see it, and we do not use it to train machine learning models.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for what you make public. If a photo is of someone else, that is between you and them; if a piece of music or footage is someone else's, you need their permission. A song you pick for a film is used on your own phone for your own film, and it is on you to have the right to it, and to anything you post elsewhere.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Rewind to:

  • Upload or share anything unlawful, or any sexual content involving minors — which we report to the authorities without exception.
  • Harass, threaten, defame or invade the privacy of anyone, including by adding someone to a trip in order to show them abusive material, or by making a trip public that contains someone who would not want it to be.
  • Upload content you do not have the rights to.
  • Break, probe or circumvent the app's limits, security or payment checks, or access another user's data.
  • Automate the app, scrape it, or drive rendering programmatically to run up costs.
  • Resell access to Rewind or share one account between many people.

6. Reporting, blocking and enforcement

Profiles, trips and worlds can be public, so there are things in Rewind you did not ask to see. Every profile, trip and photograph can be reported from inside the app, with a reason, and every person can be blocked. Blocking hides the two of you from each other and ends any friendship or follow between you; a trip you are both already in is not changed, and you can leave it. You can also remove yourself from any trip you were added to.

A person reads every report. We may remove content, or suspend or terminate an account, when we find these terms have been broken. Serious cases — anything illegal, or anything that puts someone in danger — we act on immediately and, where appropriate, report to law enforcement. If the app has no button for what you need to tell us, email support@example.com.

7. Subscriptions and billing

Rewind is free to use with limits. Two paid subscriptions — Rewind Pro and Rewind Max — raise them. Each is offered as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription.

What you getFreeProMax
Storage5 GiB100 GiBUnlimited
Films per month220100
Trips you can own3UnlimitedUnlimited
Collaborators per trip310Unlimited

Story exportNoYesYes

Max is capped at 100 films a month rather than being unlimited because each film is a real computing cost. It is above what anyone has been observed to use.

Price

The price of each plan is shown in the app before you buy, and on the App Store listing. Prices are set per country and shown in your local currency, including tax where that applies. We may change prices; an increase does not take effect on an existing subscription until Apple has notified you and you have agreed, as Apple's rules require.

Auto-renewal — how it works

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
  • The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Manage or cancel in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not refund the period you are in, and you keep the plan until that period ends.
  • Deleting the Rewind app or your Rewind account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it with Apple.
  • If a free trial is ever offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Restoring a purchase

If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, use Restore purchases on the plans screen to recover an active subscription.

If you downgrade or lapse

When a subscription ends you return to Free. Your existing media is not deleted, but you will be over the Free storage limit until you get under it, and new uploads are blocked while you are over. Upload quality for new imports drops to medium, and story export stops being available. Nothing you already made is taken away.

8. Buying individual films

Once a month's included films are used, you can buy more as a one-off purchase. These are consumable purchases, not subscriptions: they do not renew, and they do not expire at the end of the month.

Your monthly allowance is always used first, so a bought film is only spent once the included ones are gone. If a render fails on our side you are not charged for it — the allowance or the credit comes back automatically. Deleting a film you already made does not return its credit. A film cut on your own phone uses no credit.

9. Refunds

All purchases go through Apple, so Apple handles refunds, not us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue, approve or reverse a refund on Apple's behalf.

If you are in the UK or EU you may have a statutory right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days, which you exercise through Apple by the same route. If something is genuinely broken, tell us — we would rather fix it, and we can grant credits or plan time directly to put it right.

10. Storage and limits

Rewind is not a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything you care about — the originals in your camera roll are yours and we never touch them. We are not liable for the loss of content you have no other copy of.

The limits in section 7 are enforced by our servers. We may adjust plan allowances over time; if we reduce one in a way that affects you, we will tell you first.

11. Third-party services

Rewind can connect to Apple Health, Strava, Instagram and Insta360 cameras, looks songs up in Deezer's and LRCLIB's catalogues, draws maps with Mapbox, and uses Google's models to analyse photographs and compose music. Those are other companies' products, governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. If one of them changes or withdraws its API, the corresponding feature in Rewind may change or stop working.

Lyrics come from a community catalogue and are set into a film at your request. Music you add is your own. If you post a film somewhere public, the rights to what is in it are yours to hold.

12. Availability and changes

We try to keep Rewind working but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change or remove features. If we make a change that substantially reduces what a paid plan gives you, you may cancel and seek a pro-rata refund through Apple.

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will give you notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Rewind after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.

13. Ending this agreement

You can stop at any time by deleting your account from the Profile screen. Cancel any subscription with Apple separately, and before you delete.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially break these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right; for illegal content or anything endangering someone, we act immediately. If we terminate a paid account for no fault of yours, we will refund the unused part of the period.

14. Disclaimers and liability

Rewind is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation. A film is made by machine from what you gave it; we do not promise it will come out the way you hoped.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data where you could reasonably have kept your own copy. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or [CURRENCY] 100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local law gives you, and nothing here overrides it.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY / JURISDICTION], and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also bring proceedings in your own country, and you keep the protection of its mandatory consumer law.

16. Apple

This agreement is between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Rewind or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Rewind.

If Rewind fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, not Apple's.

We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim that Rewind or your use of it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights, and for any claim that Rewind fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using Rewind.

You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and have the right to enforce them against you.
